CSA Update: can you name this mystery veggie?

Friday was a crazy day but the craziest moment was when I opened up my CSA box and found three rolly-polly somethings that looked like, well, like alien eggs. It didn't have any real smell and it was plain white when I chopped it open. After tasting it (surprisingly yummy!) and doing some awesome internetting, I know what it is! Do you? I'll post the answer in the comments :)

Yep--I'm excited to try mine! I have a few recipes, too, if you're interested.

Totally Kohlrabi. We got those things too. Except ours still had the leaves attached.

Man! You guys are so smart! It took me a loooong time to figure it out. I've just been eating mine plain, but if you guys have any tips I'd love them :)

I didn't know what it is, and have never tasted it, so I can't help you on recipes, but I thought you'd like to know you're not the only person who's never seen one.

Eh err, a Motahari beet? Oh, tsk tsk if y'all have never had one of those. So exotic!

Looks funky; I'd never seen or heard of it before.
